I thought this was going to be special when they told me they decided to get married on their parents’ land, under a big oak tree. I thought it was going to be especially beautiful, sweet, and meaningful to their families. We met with Katie and Travis at a venue they were trying to decide on, along with Katie’s sister/Matron of Honor/wedding planner/go-to-gal, Kourtney and her husband Nick. Even while we were sitting there, talking about the pros and cons, it seemed like they already knew which place was going to fit their story better.
Then I knew this was going to be special when halfway through our engagement session, we arrived at the tree. Travis was talking about how they would trim it down so you could see under it better, and maybe having some twinkle lights underneath. We were all standing under the tree, the sun was setting, and we were envisioning how beautiful it would be. And then Katie started tearing up. It was going to be so meaningful, and gorgeous, and special. It was going to be perfect.
To Katie and Travis: Thank you for letting us come explore up and down your future ceremony site. We had such a blast with you two, and Kourtney and Nick! I’m so grateful for that time we got to spend together, and I can’t wait to see y’all again soon. This time is going to fly by! My boots were filled with that pokey, sharp speargrass afterwards, but it was so so worth it! P.S. I’m also really grateful we didn’t run into any snakes! 😉
Kourtney and Nick crafted these flower crowns from the wildflowers near by, all by hand during the session! Needless to say, they were also perfect and had to be put on Katie immediately!
