Always more, never less.

That’s the Rampolla family motto. Everyone listened attentively. Jenny’s dad stood, in front of all their friends and family, holding the microphone and reflected. Earlier that day, he had walked Jenny across the Springdale Station lawn and stood with her, arm in arm, before his soon-to-be son in law. They shook hands, under the cover of yellow and orange leaves and a triangular altar, and paused. He leaned in and spoke to Brandon, words that only they will know. Under that Lacebark Elm tree, Jenny and Brandon promised eternity to each other, and something else.

“The universe is all that is, or ever was, or ever will be. Our contemplations of the cosmos stir us. There’s a tingling in the spine, a catch in the voice, a faint sensation as if a distant memory of falling from a great height. We know we are approaching the grandest of mysteries. The cosmos is within us. We are made of star stuff.”

Later that night, again in front of this same crowd, he spoke of their family motto. Always more, never less. Tonight, he continued, Brandon and his extended family were the more in the Rampolla’s life. Thank goodness for that faithful cruise these two took; their wedding celebration was one for the books.

I mean it when I say that you two are some of the coolest people we have ever met, and your wedding one hundred percent reflected that. Your first dance as husband and wife was to Africa (amazing) and your favors were handmade candles from Topo Chico bottles. Amazing! Thank you for letting us be a part of this season in your lives. We wish you nothing but the best in this next chapter!
