Ladybird Lake Engagement Session | Alexis + Mitchell

Laughter rang out. Feet hit the ground. Alexis and Mitchell were running away from me, full stop, laughing heartily with one another. They were racing one another, completely spontaneously, through a mass of runners and cyclists. Even surrounded by people, it was easy to become enveloped into their natural, goofy, loving energy. The hike and bike trail near Zilker Park was buzzing; people walked, jogged, and biked past, but Alexis and Mitchell stayed locked into one another. Specifically, he was hyper-focused on her. On making her laugh. On helping her look her best, and on helping them both stay present to the task at hand. It was clear that he had a gift for making her feel like she was the only person in a crowded, public park. That, mixed with the energy to take pictures well, is pretty remarkable for a groom (or in this case, a groom-to-be).

I was struck by Alexis and Mitchell’s excitement, energy, and magnetic attraction towards one another. After spending an engagement session getting to know them, a spontaneous race through a crowded trail didn’t seem out of the ordinary. In fact, I would have expected it. Mitchell was so incredibly warm-hearted and silly. He made face after face to ensure that Alexis was constantly laughing, smiling, and having a genuinely good time. And because of him, she did. They were a wonderful couple to shoot engagements for because of their clear love, both each other, and for having fun.

In just a few short weeks, we’ll be celebrating with both of them at their wedding at Texas Old Town. I’m confident that their day is going to be a time equally filled with fun, laughter, and love. Here’s to racing each other down the aisle together – AJ & I can’t wait to be there for it!
